The rules of Peak to Creek. In other words, all you need to know about the race.

  1. Peak to Creek – XII Edition will take place in Bormio (SO) on January 28, 2017. It is an amateur alpine ski race open to all ski lovers from 18 years of age and has to be joined with a non competitive spirit.
  2. Start list: the start list is drafted upon the cronological order of the registrations received.
    While filling in the online form, though, the user may check the box through which he declares to be a TOP SKIER and therefore to have great skiing skills. The Top Skiers will be added among the first 50 couples in order to avoid collisions with the slower skiers.
    The Organizing Commitee appeals to the sense of responsibility of everyone.
  3. Paired-up start: based on the start list, the racers start by couples every minute in the case of the first 50 couples while all the others start every 30 seconds.
  4. Clothing: helmet and bib must be always worn during the race. No race ski suit or tight-fitting clothing is allowed.
  5. Gates: the racer must pass through the directional gates. In case of a missed gate the racer will be disqualified.
  6. Warning flags: along the course there are a few warning flags. The yellow flag is a warning of danger and the racer must slow down or he/she will receive a second warning with the red flag. With the black flag the racer is disqualified and must stop.
  7. In the case of collision with another racer: must stop and provide first aid.
  8. Respect the other racers: the racer must act properly not to put in danger him/herself and the others.
  9. Mastery of speed and behavior: the racer must keep speed and behave according to his/her skills and weather conditions.
  10. Choice of direction: the upstream racer must choose a proper direction to avoid collision with the downstream racer.
  11. Overtaking: pass another racer keeping proper distance.

Peak to Creek 2017 provides the following categories:

  • Category A: from 1998 to 1981 men and ladies
  • Category B: from 1980 to 1966 men and ladies
  • Category C: from 1965 to 1956 men and ladies
  • Category D: from 1955 and older men and ladies
  • Category Snowboard: unique category for snowboarders
  • Category Team: the participants may join the event as a team, too. Every team must be composed of minimum 8 racers; 2 of them must be women. For the rankings we will sum up the time of the two best women and the three best men.
  • When and where: the race bib collection will take place on January 27, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm and on January 28, 2017 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am at the bike rental Bormio Bike, located by the bottom station of the cableway (25 Battaglion Morbegno St.)
  • Deposit: at the race bib collection you will be asked a € 20 deposit for your chip (for time keeping). At the end of your race, return immediately the chip and you will get your deposit right back.
  • When: Friday January 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm
  • Where: the meeting is in Bormio 3000
  • Guided warm-up lap: the racers may take a look at the race course accompanied by course organizers and Police. During the warm-up, the ski area of Bormio will remain open to public and therefore the participants will have to behave properly and follow the directions of organizers. We kindly ask for maximum collaboration.
  • Opening and closing: the registrations will be open from September 1, 2016 and will be closed on January 26, 2017 at 12:00 pm.
  • Price: the registration to the event costs € 25 per person within 12:00 pm of January 13, 2017. After the price will be € 40.
  • Race pack: the registration price includes the race pack.
  • Where to sign up: at Bormio Ski ticket offices by the bottom station of the cableway Bormio-Bormio 2000 or online.
  • Payment methods: at the ticket office you may pay in cash or with cards. If you register online you need to pay through bank transfer
  • In case of no-show, the full amount will not be refunded nor used for the following year’s event.
  • The racer is allowed to make his complaint to the Organizing Committee within 15 minutes since the publishing of the official ranking. To make the official complaint the cost is € 50 which you will get back in case of a successful complaint.
  1. The racer must behave according to integrity values and fair play. Any kind of behavior against the law or dangerous for him and others will not be allowed.
  2. The racer relieves the organizing committee of any kind of responsibility for any possible damage, material or immaterial, and/or for any expense derived from the participation to the event.
  3. The racer takes charge of any responsibilty deriving from the practice of the sport in question and relieves the organizing committee of any civil and criminal responsibility, even objective, in consequence of injuries caused to him/herself or to a third party and relieves the organizing committee of any responsibility connected to thefts and/or damages to personal objects.
  • The event may only take place on the prearranged date which is January 28, 2017 under safe weather conditions for the participants.
  • Variations: the Organizing Committee has the right to vary the rules, make changes to the course or schedule due to extenuating circumstaces .
  • Interruptions during the race: the Organizing Committee has the power to interrupt the race due to safety reasons.
  • Cancellation: if the race gets cancelled due to extenuating circumstaces (like extreme weather conditions) the full amount of participation will not be refunded but transferred to next year’s event.
