On Sunday February 28, 2016 the event Peak to Creek took place in Bormio (Lombardia, Italy). The annual alpine ski race was a great success despite the severe snow alert that would have discouraged the most courageous mountain man. The event gave, once again, evidence of being a superb day of sport and a great moment of sharing.
The event registered a good attendance: over 400 people joined the edition 2016 which stayed a real race in spite of the lowered start taken down to 2,500 meters on the S. Ambrogio slope. The official race course was supposed to start from Cima Bianca at 3,000 m but due to the low visibility and the snow alert the Organizing Committee had to modify the start level. It was a forced decision to safeguard the safety of the skiers but, in the end, the race kept its charm and thrilling spirit. The exclusive format of Peak to Creek kept its original features: course prepared like a downhill and paired-up start.
Peak to Creek 2016: a sports festival
Peak to Creek 2016 wasn’t just a common clocked race, it was a loto more: hundreds of people challenged the bad weather because they wanted to be in Bormio and share their great passions for skiing, mountain and sport.
The edition 2016 was so close to be cancelled: the first time in January when the race was called off due to a lack of snow and then on February 28 when the snow alert put the event on serious jeopardy. And it was only thanks to the great work of the Organizing Committee and its friends that Peak to Creek took place with no glitchtes for the great satisfaction of organizers and participants.
After the race, the skiers gathered at the Ski Stadium “Atleti Azzurri d’Italia”, at the bottom of the Stelvio slope. Such a great atmosphere under the big tent: the lunch with the local food and the grappa tasting were a wonderful time for everybody.
