Bormio, 15 November 2019
the Organizing Committee of Peak to Creek announces that the 2020 edition has been cancelled.
The tough decision was made after evaluating the sentiment of the public, the participants and all the people involved in the event.
The race was born in 2006 with the goal to promote the incredible vertical drop of Bormio’s ski area and the quality of its slopes – like the legendary Stelvio – with a unique characteristic:
the paired-up start at the top (3,012 m) with the finish line at the valley run (1,225 m).
For the last editions, despite the attemps to improve the event, we have registered a remarkable drop in the number of participants. The solutions put in place to better the safety of the racers did not satisfy us nor the liking of the participants.
We have witnessed a slow decline of the event which could have been also caused by a new general kind of approach towards alpine skiing that is less competitive and more playful.
For the reasons explained above, Peak to Creek 2020 has been cancelled. It’s a decision we didn’t take with a light heart but we feel it’s the right thing to do to make room for new ideas: within the next future we want to focus on an event that will be for everyone and with no competitive spirit.
As a result of the cancellation of Peak to Creek 2020, also the ski mountaineering race – Creek to Peak – will not take place.
We rely on your understaing.
Have a good winter.
